Seamanship Specialist

Chartwork & Position Fixing (Min. grade: open)

This course teaches the basic techniques of marine navigation which will assist in planning dives. In particular, this course is ideal for those looking for wrecks or new dive sites.

RYA Short Range Radio (GMDSS) (Min. grade: open)

GMDSS - Global Maritime Distress and Safety System replaces the Marine Radio Course (VHF Restricted). It is not just for emergency and distress messages, but for all types of existing ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore routine communications. Note: £3 for BSAC Logbook Endorsement if desired.

Outboard Engine & Boat Maintenance (Min. grade : open)

This course is designed to acquaint members with the design features and operation of modern outboard engines used on club diving boats. It covers fault finding and rectification; servicing; maintenance; the routine care of the boat hull and fittings as well as trailer care. A must for any boat owner.
