Emergency First Response Instructor Course

Why Become an EFR Instructor?

There are many reasons for becoming an Emergency First Response Instructor. Consider the following:

  • No marketing restrictions other than those imposed by local regulation
  • Performance based training - meaning effective use of instructor time through participant independent study
  • High quality instructor and participant materials incorporating state of the art instructional design principles
  • Up-to-date with current medical guidelines for layperson emergency care
  • International in scope, allowing for local or regional variation of skill technique
  • AED training incorporated into basic course offerings
  • Simplification of teaching emergency care as mandated by research findings
  • Divides primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) into two separate courses, conforming to the international call for simplification of layperson emergency care training

How Do I Become an EFR Instructor?

If you have a recognised Primary Care (CPR) Secondary Care and Child / Infant (First Aid & CPR) eg. EFR Primary, Secondary and CFC qualification and are at least 18 years of age, you can take the full Emergency First Response Instructor Training course conducted by our EFR Instructor Trainer.

Note: You must successfully complete the Emergency First Response Instructor exam.

What Subjects are Covered in the EFR Instructor Course?

To become an Emergency First Response Instructor, attend a full Instructor Training course or Instructor Crossover Program from our Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer.

Here's what the seminar covers:

  • Emergency First Response orientation and why the course was developed
  • Emergency First Response Corporation orientation
  • Orientation to Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care, and Care For Children courses
  • How Emergency First Response differs from other CPR and first aid courses
  • Course design, flexibility and international consistency
  • View portions of the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Video
  • Skills review from the course, including CPR , Care for Children and AED use.

Training material

For the Participant:

  • Basic Kit: Includes Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Manual and Care for Children where selected (with independent study section, skill workbook and reference guide)
  • Deluxe Kit: Includes Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Manual (with independent study section, skill workbook and reference guide) a deluxe zip binder and the First Aid Pack
  • First Aid Pack: Includes rolls, bandages, gauze, gloves and mouth barrier. Is available as part of the Deluxe Kit or à la carte
  • Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Video.

For the Instructor:

  • Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care and Care for Children Instructor Guide with binder
  • Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Video
  • Emergency First Response Decal
  • Emergency First Response Participant Certificate
  • Emergency First Response Completion Card Registration Form

Crossover to Emergency First Responder Instructor

If you are an Instructor in CPR with another agency you can take the Instructor Crossover Program from an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer. For information about the specific topics covered in the course, please see the Emergency First Responder Instructor section for details.

Note: You must successfully complete the Emergency First Response Instructor exam.

The Instructor course costs £150 and the materials cost around £100 depending on whether you still own the original EFR manuals etc.

An additional cost is membership of the EFR agency, prices available from PADI however it is at present less than £50 per year
